Illustration Friday, and Wings

Super last minute I.F. post (As it's Thursday), and am only getting in a few quick progress photos of a project that's not yet done-- but here's a submission for the weekly theme "wings."

This first main photo is my I.F. submission, for there are birds nesting in her hair, and her layered hair could be described as a "wings" type of cut.  This is a pin-up that's as of yet untitled.

And below, are more shots.  Obviously this is an in-progress piece and not done, but scroll down to see more sneak photos of this pin-up/art-noveau/art-deco inspired commission.

Initial pencil.

                                                           Some initial inks.

A different angle of some initial inks.
Full body so far, of bosomy pin-up girl/character.

Have to run, but not before doing my I.F. linking duty!  Click below to submit by the end of today, Thursday, to have something for the "Wings" theme of #IllustrationFriday.  And if not, stay tuned for the new theme they'll put up tomorrow :-)

Ta ta for now.

"Lighthouse" for Creative Tuesdays

The image below, in keeping with my obsession with bad jokes, is titled: "You Light Up My Life  --!!"

The word "Lighthouse" makes me think of many things.  The actual lighthouse itself, Virginia Woolf, and an alternative band from the early two-thousands that I was into for half a second in high school.  Although upon checking it out further, that last one is actually "Lifehouse," and therefore not-on topic.  Onward.

I just just just finished this greeting card, hence the phone photo (to make sure it is submitted to C.T. by the deadline)!  I'll try to re-upload it tonight with my scanner properly once I am back home for the day so it's a bit more high-res.  It was a lot of fun to make a card and include a lighthouse in a beach/boardwalk scene.  The lighthouse is one of five main things causing illumination in the picture-- can you find the rest?

Lighthouses are beautiful. I'm sure they're a literal light at the end of a journey for those travelling by ship and coming towards them (especially if the weather or trip was a bit rough), and often they are isolated.  A comfort to those who see them, but pretty somber and lonely themselves, nonetheless.  So, it was fun to make a card with a more light-hearted lighthouse (-:

And now, for some links!

I've yet to upload the new ones I'm working on for an upcoming fair (the "lighthouse" card included!), but to see family, friendship, and romantic cards and Valentines on my site, please quick here:

Myth for "Illustration Friday"

I am a busy busy bee, off to a workshop at Gallery Nucleus later today (yay  --!! great store, gallery, and educational space), and I need to get back into more and more blogging here.  But below, here is a friendship based cartoon greeting card on the theme of "myth" for Illustration Friday.

While the friendship and collaborative work between humans and elephants is not a myth (it's a huge part of life in Thailand and India), dragons are more mythical.  So, here is a mythical friendship between a dragon, a girl, and an elephant!

The lucky thing about imagination and illustrations, is that things and creatures and situations can feel very real in your heart-- real to the point it's hard to forget what's a "myth" and what's "real."   At least, that is what my "Toy-Story" loving and believing heart tells itself.

To submit to "myth" for Illustration Friday this week, please go to:

Happy Sunday, readers (-:

Creative Tuesdays, and "Birthday Something!"

Above is a greeting card I am submitting for the theme of "Birthday Something" for C.T.  And it seems that the "something" (or "somethings," in this case) is fluffy.  Fluffy things.  Fluffy puppies  --!!  Fluffy puppies who enjoy birthday celebrations, by way of dancing/hugging/and giving their humans bones.  Perhaps not the most useful of gifts for a person, but the thought counts, right?  'T

Birthdays are at their best festive, which I hoped to capture in this card.  Again, festive and FLUFFY is always best.  (To be fair, these pups are short-haired, but I am animal obsessed and I call most things with fur fluffy, even if their hair is shorter or coarser).

For anyone curious about other birthday cards I have done, please go to:
