Illustration Friday and Web of Whimsy: Lesson

Here is a spot illustration for I.F.'s theme of "Lesson." I'm also submitting it for Web of Whimsy, as it's a lighthearted and silly moment between a girl and a Mom. When trying on Mom's clothes that don't quite fit you, and trying to do so sneakily, one should make sure to be inconspicuous. Or at least not stand right out in the open. If you are more careful, your bemused grown-up would not have been able to sneak up behind you while you are being sneaky. "Lesson" learned.

Lastly, for anyone in Southern California, the Wizard World Anaheim Convention starts tonight, and goes through Sunday! I am going to be there, and it looks like it's going to be a fun show with lots of cool guests. Also excited that the "Samurai Project" crew are going down together and sitting in the row.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend!

Creative Tuesdays: Short and Tall!

This mother's day card below I think fits the description of "Short and Tall" for this week's challenge.

For now, the girl is short, and her Mom's tall! That will change, but for now, that is their height dynamic.

Below you can submit to Mister Toast's blog at the most recent link:

Royal or Wedding for I.A.? Wedding.

For this week's Inspiration Avenue, I am submitting for half of the theme. We can do "Royal Wedding," "Royal," or "Wedding," so I'm going with the latter. Below is a program I was commissioned to do this past October for a friend! I've posted the image before, but as it was done for someone's actual ceremony I thought it would very much fit this week's challenge.

Carolyn MacKinnon (nee Gomer) is the lovely friend and client I did this for, and she has been kind enough to let me post the image of her program on my blog. It was very fun to design, and it was a real treat to draw a happy couple on a special and happy day for them :-)

To submit to I.A., please go here:
http://inspiration-avenue-team.blogspot.com/2011/04/weekly-challenge-royal-andor-wedding.html

Hope everyone in the U.K. enjoys the Royal Wedding Day, and that it is still relatively easy (or at least possible?) to get around town and carry on as normal for anyone not following the ceremonies!

(I love London, and it would be amazing to be there at this time-- obviously, as I am typing from the States right now, it's not happening-- but hopefully I will save up enough to return sooner rather than later.)

I.F. Theme: Bicycle

Been very busy and would like to post more, but am posting at least a bit for now. Here's a card I made a few years ago, but that fits the present bill. Bicycle!

(Actually, it's a tricycle, but I will claim artistic license and submit this nonetheless)

For all real cyclers out there, do not make like the kids in this picture.

In all seriousness, wear helmets! Cartoons can get by without donning them, but real people should to be safe (-:

Angel for Inspiration Avenue

This week's theme for I.A. is "Angels."

Above here is a picture of a little girl and her angelic (cupid-esque?) friend hanging out with her as she eats. I made it as a valentine, but felt it would work for this submission along the lines of angels, cherubs, etcetera.

Illustration Friday: Journey

I do hope this formats correctly as this is my first ever blog update from my Android! Technology, it is a strange thing. But anyway, back to the task at hand: Journey for Illustration Friday!

The spot illustration I have submitted is called" Happy House," and the two kids are on a "journey" there to go play. It is a friendly house that recycles moonbeams rather than belching out smoke.

The house has a face, but it is not meant to be scary. Promise.

"Rooftops" For Creative Tuesdays

For this week's "Creative Tuesdays," I am submitting this card with the caption: "I'm On Top Of The World When I'm With You!"

As required, there are two-- more, actually! Rooftops in this picture. It is nice to stand atop a high place and look at a skyline. Makes me think of the amazing views from the London eye :-) It's very cool, whethr over a cityscape or a countryscape, to climb upon some kind of building or hill and then see the widespread beauty and how very tiny things look when you get that far up.

Anyhow, back to "Creative Tuesdays!" This was a very fun theme.

"Mother" For Inspiration Avenue

For this week's I.A., the theme is "Mother." I decided to submit a spot illustration, as I recently completed several (most of which have friendship or family themes). It's a Mom and a little girl, and the latter is coming home for the first time.

Maybe even once the girl gets to know the teddies, she'll feel like a Mom to her toys. Silly, yes, but it happens ;-)

To submit to Inpiration Avenue or view other submissions for this week, please go to: http://inspiration-avenue-team.blogspot.com/2011/04/weekly-challenge-mother.html

"Bottled" for Illustration Friday (And Web of Whimsy)

Submitting a bit late for both, but this week the I.F. theme is "bottled, and "Web of Whimsy's" theme always is whimsy. I think the below picture fits both requirements.

So, as is evident, I'm posting a card with a "bottle" pictured. A captionless card, it's mostly about friendship, milk, and cookies. The milk is kind of blue-ish, but the fairy friend is pouring it out and the other girl gets to sail through it. I myself wouldn't mind swimming in milk and cookies, so long as the milk was thinned out enough :-) It's definitely overly whimsical, but could be yummy!

In any case, to submit to I.F., please go to:
